Vision of Death

How could he save the woman he loved... from herself? From whatever curse she was under? Evidently the Elixer he'd brought from far far away, was but a mere placebo at best. And the metal worker once again sensed his failure. Perhaps... she belonged with one of her own kind. And yet... one did not simply tack a notice on a public message board to summon a haruspex. It just... wasn't done. "Tell me how to save you, Athamé." He whispered to her as his arms eventually loosened their unforgiving python-like squeeze about her narrow frame, allowing her once again to simply breathe.

"I need help.." she whispered. "Did you not see.. anything of what just happened?"

"I saw... only you, my seraph." Behaving like a mad-woman. A lunatic. These things were left unsaid, for surely they were only but a prelude to the scoffing of outsiders, should any catch a glimpse of her in such a state... such as they had that afternoon at the Fountain of Hesuis. "Tell me how to help you." Her admission that she needed some just wasn't quite enough it seemed. And other than keeping her bound up tight, morning, noon, and night... the man really had no clue.

"Oh. You must think.. I am losing it. And I cannot even be certain enough to assure you that I am not. My mother could help me.. if she were here. She would know what to do. Oh forgive me, I am not strong enough. Hold me?"

"What of your aunt?" At her desire, he drew her right back again into his embrace and held her naked body close against his own. Odd scene... for a woman who was soon widowed before she could be joined to another... and a fellow who was foreigner, let alone in the house itself, but also the entire city of Ar.

"Mykel?" That was perhaps grasping at straws, for the babe was but a few months old yet. Who else would there be? She seemed to suffer no love loss for her own flesh and blood brother, and so the mention of Artemas never arose. It wasn't as there were seers on every street corner, keeping shop. Athamé was not the only one lost and in need of direction here.
