Companion For a Hand

Five days.

"I wonder what it's like to live with you; to be your companion."

Perhaps she was better off not knowing.

They were long days. Days that began even before the dawn painted itself in the morning sky with its palette of pastels, and late into the night again past the shut-eye Ahn after the district crier's last time-keeping herald. Five days in which a mismatched pair might rediscover one another all over again in heated, bloody trysts where passion did n'er seem to wane. The sustanence of such which might prove fatal if prolongued. Perhaps it was best they two had been doomed from the start. Lest the metal worker and the seer go down in flames, consumed to ash and dust as but a fleeting speck of life burnt out long before it's time.

And yet for five days she'd have a taste of him, day in and day out. He suspected that by the end of the hand, the lady would perhaps be quite relieved to have him out of her hair.
